Visit of Minister of Industry Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir to Utopia Pharmaceuticals Factory

Removing obstacles, facilitating procedures, and opening new horizons for export are among the key pillars of the state’s plan to achieve industrial development.

Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, visited Utopia Pharmaceuticals factory at the Industria West – El Sewedy industrial complex in 10th of Ramadan City. The factory spans an area of 18,000 square meters, with total investments amounting to EGP 1.1 billion.

The factory dedicates its products to the local market while exporting nearly 15% of its production abroad. It employs 1,050 workers, and the local component ratio in its production reaches 90%.

The factory is distinguished by producing vital pharmaceutical products for the treatment of heart diseases and hypertension. Utopia’s products comply with the latest international standards, helping compensate for shortages of imported medicines caused by halted imports or the withdrawal of some companies from the Egyptian market. This has enabled the company to secure essential medications for Egyptian patients.

The minister was received by Dr. El-Saeed Kamel, Chairman of the Board, alongside board members and factory executives.

During his tour, the minister inspected the warehouse area, liquid production line, and the tablet, capsule, and powder production lines, all equipped with the latest technologies to manufacture medicines that were previously imported from abroad.

The minister also listened to a presentation by Utopia Pharmaceuticals officials regarding the factory’s advanced technologies used to secure medications for chronic diseases to meet local market needs and support exports. The factory manager confirmed the implementation of pharmaceutical track-and-trace technology, in addition to barcode systems on every medicine package to prevent counterfeiting and ensure compliance with all environmental standards.
